2	In 1996, feeling called to start a retreat for youth, we were led to 160 acres of undeveloped, unwanted land in Chriesman, Texas….land that happened to be owned by the Moody Bible Institute.
3	Weekend Warriors… we began spending weekends camping out and exploring the property.
4	Making inroads through the thick woods and yaupon was slow going
5	The first clearing was found, an abandoned well site!
6	The decision to move to Caldwell was followed by a fruitless house search - then a great house became available when it's renters disappeared one night.
7	So, a family came together in Chriesman to serve: Nina, Scott and Jennifer, Jeremy, and Hilda
8	Clearing continued as Jennifer began teaching at Caldwell ISD, and the rest of us looked for jobs!!!
9	The second Clearing was located.
10	A Business Plan for the non profit venture evolved
11	The driveway was begun
12	Help arrived from Houston friends.
13	Yanking out MORE Yaupon!
14	Break Time!
15	A Grand Entrance!
16	Finally! A tractor!
17	The Kolache Festival booth raised money for building supplies.
18	God brought others to His work…
19	…as construction began with a good old fashioned barn raising.
20	Noah's Ark- A failed attempt at a petting zoo.... Way, way, too much work!
21	The Maze was the first team building element built.
22	The first shed went up.
23	One of many youth organizations that volunteered to build team building elements.

25	The pavilion was completed.
26	Finally, the first campers arrived for a day camp!!!!!!

28	Cross Roads’ first kitchen.
29	We found a house to move to Cross Roads for all of us to live in. Before…
30	…And after the house movers!
31	We put it, and our lives, back together.
32	A few weeks later, on moving day, a rainbow reminded us of God's promise.
33	Carol & Crew served food to campers from the house's little kitchen!
34	Two cabins were donated!
35	A Garage Sale at BEXCO raised money to finish out the cabin interiors
36	Dedicated volunteers pitched in to finish them.
37	It was truly a group effort.
38	Cabin Painting & Roofing in Progress
39	The Lou Doiron-Lynn Niles Memorial Cabin and the El Shaddai Cabin began service.
40	Each cabin sleeps twenty.
41	The Dedication Ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Ernie Turney.
42	New groups discovered Cross Roads
43	Meanwhile, Hilda & Nina needed their own house… another long search. Then success…
44	Two halves arrived- a clean cut this time! Thank you, God!
45	Sharing His love.
46	The Cross Walk Players preparing to be a blessing!
47	We salvaged some building materials donated by a closed nursing home.
48	Board members discussed future plans for the camp.
49	Enclosing and expanding the Pavilion into a dining hall and conference room was first on the list.
50	The new Dining Hall & Conference Room.
51	Pat Baker joined the Cross Roads Team, and Hilda & Pat were united in marriage by Reverend Steve Stigler at the Cross Roads Outdoor Sanctuary, ringed by Dogwood Trees in full bloom!
52	Afterwards, they celebrated with family and friends in the new dining hall.
